My dog is 95 pounds, really smart but hard to train, they want their way only, you have to convince then that you are the alpha and not him, but they are faithful dogs, great watch dogs and they play a lot, lots of energy.

The book does not go really deep into raising or training the dog but it gives you a good start/5(44). Doberman Pinscher, Doberman Pinscher Training AAA AKC: Think Like a Dog, but Don’t Eat Your Poop.

With a Dobermann it must have a strong minded firm fair calm leader it can look up to as ranking above it with authority over it the dog respects, who provides it with rules, obedience training, boundaries so the dog is clear what behavior is expected of it, & that there will be immediate consequences if it chooses to follow its instinct.

Doberman Pinscher (Dobermann) Available for Adoption. Form and Function. Few people can claim to have had so great an impact upon the dog world as Louis Dobermann of Thuringen, Germany.

Herr Doberman was a door-to-door tax collector who needed a dog to accompany him on his rounds. In the late s he set about to create an alert.

Since Dobermann was also the town dogcatcher, he often took along a dog for protection. Dobermann began breeding dogs with the idea of a loyal companion and protector in mind. The Dobermann was the creation of a German tax collector, Herr Louis Dobermann.

Herr Dobermann was in need of an alert, companion dog to protect him when he was doing his rounds. As he was also the owner of the local animal shelter, he had a continuous supply of breeding stock to help him develop just such an animal. The Doberman Pinscher emerged as a breed in Germany around the turn of the 20th century.

A tax collector named Louis Dobermann, for whom the breed was named, developed the breed out of the desire for a medium-sized companion and guard dog. Karl Dobermann was not the only person involved in the creation of the modern Doberman dog.

Far from it. Whilst his name remained (thanks to the loyalty of his closest friend), in reality he was merely the starting point on a journey of canine experimentation to produce one of the most intelligent and protective dogs in the world.

The Doberdane will require at least 3 long walks per day. They will also require plenty of backyard space that allows them to run and expend energy. The Doberdane is a playful, energetic breed that can benefit from activities such as hikes, dog park visits and playtime with toys.

Use a damp cloth to wipe off your dog after you've been playing outside. Smaller dogs have less surface area, and so produce comparatively less dander than larger breeds — definitely something to keep in mind with a dog as large as a Doberman Pinscher.

Remember that no breed is % hypoallergenic, and any breed can aggravate allergies. Called Doberman Pinscher in some countries and just plain Dobermann (with two n's) in others, this athletic dog needs brisk walking every day and all-out running as often as possible.

Too little exercise and too little companionship can lead to restlessness and other behavioral problems. Mental exercise (advanced obedience, agility, tracking, Schutzhund) is just as important to this.

HEALTH & LIFESPAN One of the most negative characteristics of the Dobermann is their short life span rarely living past 10 years. My father and I bought a pure bred doberman from Houston Texas in he was a show dog.
